“The City has taken possession of the Multiplex and we have had several “dress rehearsal” days to allow lifeguards and staff to train within the facility. We are extremely excited to finally open the doors to the public. We will soft open for a period while we continue to put the final touches on the facility, but feel we are ready to allow the public to enjoy this amazing facility!”
We have confirmed several dates of importance in December pertaining to the Multiplex opening – December 5th is a VIP Day from 11am – 10:30 pm in which members, sponsors and invited guests will be able to use to the facility before we open the doors since we are anticipating large crowds in the early days of the opening. December 6th the doors will swing open at 5:30am - 10:30pm and we will be operational from that day forth.
”The really exciting day for us though will be December 10th at 1:30pm in which we will have the Mayor on hand to formally cut the ribbon to the facility and open it up completely to the community. We invite all sponsors, members and the entire community to join us for this momentous occasion in our community’s history. Looking further down the road, we will have our GRANDE OPENING in February on Family Day, February 20, 2012.” This will give us a couple of months operationally to ensure everything is up and running smoothly and to work the bugs out of the system.

About The Multiplex
The Multiplex is the largest capital project that the City of Grande Prairie has ever undertaken, at 109 million dollars. This sports facility is a 250,000 sq.ft., complex comprised of an aquatics area, field house, fitness area, food and beverage, retail and community multipurpose rooms, is slated to open in fall / winter of 2011. The facility will service the sporting and recreation community throughout the northern region, over 350,000 residents.
